John Hiscock

Artist Statement

The act of painting for me is, in fact, a discipline of infinitely ancient spiritual archeology. I endeavour to dig into the ground of my being to discover the many layers within my being. While performing this highly technical excavation, I enter a state of presence; a state of no time. I paint only to be within this presence. Although the results of the action of painting are of secondary importance to me, I feel a sense of accomplishment when people are touched by my work.
